A Solution for Everyone

Here in McLean County, every resident is our neighbor. That’s why we must work together to ensure that everyone experiences a more prosperous future. Our community thrives when everyone can access pathways to prosperity.

Your partnership with UWMC makes that possible for everyone in McLean County. Together, we are championing innovative solutions that close service gaps by bringing together local partners. It’s essential that we find new solutions, especially in light of the most recent ALICE data.

ALICE is an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed — households that earn more than the Federal Poverty Level, but less than the basic cost of living for the county. And today, there are over 15,000 households in our county qualified as households, just barely making ends meet in 2021 — that’s 4,521 more households than just two years before, in 2019.

Although this report isn’t what we want to hear, it affirms our mission together. United Way of McLean County is working with community partners to reverse these trends by stopping poverty where it starts. From creating an innovative career education program that gives young adults at risk of poverty a path to self-sufficiency, to convening dozens of powerful organizations to address the affordable housing gap, we are committed to reversing this trend.

Join us today, in changing the trajectory of the lastest ALICE data. Work with us by supporting our work and partnering with us, for the sake of your neighbors in McLean County!
