Nominations Now Open for 2025 Phillip Covey Volunteer of the Year Award

BLOOMINGTON, IL (Tuesday, September 2, 2025)  – United Way of McLean County is currently accepting nominations for the 2025 Phillip Covey Volunteer of the Year Award through September 12, 2025. Community non-profit agencies are encouraged to nominate a volunteer by requesting a nomination form from Gloria Spinks at United Way at gspinks@uwaymc.org or contact the office at 309-828-7383.

The Award winner will be announced at the Power of Partnership event at Crafted Coffee Brews on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

In addition to recognizing the Volunteer of the Year, the Phillip Covey Award includes $1,000 presented to the non-profit organization where the volunteer has served. United Way volunteers, non-profit nominees, and their organization representatives, along with community leaders and the general public are invited to attend the event.

The Award was first established in 1995 in memory of Phillip Covey, the son of long-time United Way of McLean County supporter Harold Covey, to recognize a human service agency and their nominated volunteer for outstanding work in the community. Any local 501(c)3 designated organization is invited to submit applications nominating an outstanding volunteer. The Award recipient will be chosen based on criteria such as how the volunteer has changed the lives of their clients, how they have exhibited passion and expertise in their work for the agency, and how the volunteer has been critical to implementing the agency’s mission.
